The chapel’s vaulted ceiling—known as an “upside-down boat hull”—was in very poor condition. Old birds’ nests were putting pressure on the slats, which had been weakened by time and were coming loose unexpectedly…
In order to open the site to the public, the vault had to be secured. Mr. Philippe Grudé, who had previously restored the chapel door, asked us to organize the Arts and Crafts Day, which took place at the castle on Sunday, April 15, 2012.
That day gave us the chance to meet the right craftsmen. Mr. Grudé replaced the defective floorboards while balancing precariously… He’s happy with the result, especially considering the condition of the site at the start…
