He proposes placing it at the center of a spectrum ranging from historic monuments to protected and unprotected areas as a whole, taking into account the vast natural areas that are home to heritage sites. The concept of a heritage object in the strict sense is thus expanded to include the broader concepts of heritage sites and cultural spaces.
