Aquiles Delle Vigne, at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg Ruben Micieli was born in Ragusa in 1997.
He lives in Comiso, and at the young age of 5 he began studying piano with Javorka Misic. At age 9, he became a student of Giovanni Cultrera, a professor at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Vincenzo Bellini in Catania, where he studied until he earned his degree in 2014—at just 17 years old—with top marks, high praise, and a recommendation to record a CD.
He gave his first recital at age 13, and ever since he has been performing in various theaters. He has participated in numerous competitions, always winning first prize. . He attended international master classes with professors such as Aquiles Delle Vigne, Sergio Perticaroli, and Valery V.
Piassetski, Leslie Howard, and Igor Petrin. As a young talent, he received the prestigious Rotary Catania Prize and the “Chopin Prize” from International Inner Wheel (Contea di Modica). He also began performing chamber music.
He received an invitation and a scholarship to attend the Summer Academy with Aquiles Delle Vigne at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, in 2013 and 2014, and was selected to perform in the prestigious Solitär Hall.
In May 2014, he participated in the 14th International Piano and Orchestra Competition “Città di Cantù,” where he reached the semifinals with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and in June, he won three scholarships at the Maria Giubilei Piano Competition in Sansepolcro.
In March, he was selected to perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on August 8 in Portugal. In April 2015, he won first prize, the audience award, and the award for promising talent at the Mayenne International Piano Competition in France.
In June, he won first prize at the First International ClaMo Piano Competition “Región de Murcia” in Spain and performed a concert with the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia.
He also won second prize—with no first prize awarded—at the 18th edition of the Val Tidone Competition “Premio Silvio Bengalli.” In November, he won third prize at the XXXII Premio Venezia Competition, the most important competition for Italian pianists.
In April 2016, he won first prize at the Leopoldo Bellan Piano Competition. Since the age of 10, he has also been expressing himself through composing pieces that are highly appreciated by audiences.
