Eliane Reyes was born in Verviers, Belgium, in 1977.
She began studying piano with her mother and, at age 5, received the “César Franck” award from Austrian pianist Jörg Demus. She studied with great masters who encouraged her from a young age. At the age of 10, she met Gyorgy Cziffra and became one of the youngest laureates of his foundation.
Other pivotal encounters followed: Martha Argerich, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Michel Béroff, Brigitte Engerer, Hans Leygraf, Jacques Rouvier, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, and Alan Weiss. Eliane also had the privilege of participating in masterclasses led by Paul Badura-Skoda, Abdel-Rahman El-Bacha, Murray Perahia, Gyorgy Sebök, Natalia Gutmann, and Mstislav Rostropovich.
She is studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (postgraduate level), the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, the Queen Elizabeth Music Chapel, the Berlin University of the Arts (Hochschule der Künste), and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, consistently receiving the highest praise for her talent.
Eliane has won a series of international competitions, including first prize in Ettlingen, Germany, as well as the Cervantes Competition in Cuba. She was a finalist at the Montreal and Düsseldorf (Clara Schumann) International Music Competitions and the Maria Canals Chamber Music Competition, to name just a few.
Since her first concert with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam at the age of 11, as part of the Tibor Varga Festival, she has devoted herself to her career as a soloist and chamber musician.
Eliane has been hailed by the press, and her audience is enthusiastic. A recipient of awards from the Belgian Foundation for Musical Vocations, the Reinhold Blüthner Foundation, and the Sir Georg Solti Foundation, Eliane Reyes is now a professor at the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance.
His discography includes recordings of works by contemporary composers such as Nicolas Bacri, Michel Lysight, Darius Milhaud, Jean-Marie Simonis, and Alexandre Tansman for the labels Naxos, Dux, Kalidisc, and Fuga Libera.
These recordings—recitals and chamber music—have received several awards: 4 stars from “Classica,” 5 diapasons on two occasions from “Diapason Magazine,” as well as the “Recomendado Award” from the Spanish music magazine “CD Compact.” “In recent years, no one has made as big an impression as this young pianist.”
