On November 4, 2011, the Laval OPL group enjoyed a unique evening of stargazing! Fog rolled in, leaving us with only a faint view of the moon!
**Far from being discouraged, we decided to take advantage of this pitch-black night to go see the 300-year-old chestnut tree, nominated by *Terre Sauvage* magazine and UNESCO for Tree of the Year!**
Apparently, it brings good luck, which piques the curiosity of many… It’s the main attraction in the forest, but it’s also a wonderful opportunity to listen to… the silence! punctuated by the call of the tawny owl. Back on the esplanade, the fog hadn’t lifted.
So this is a shadow puppet show that delights young and old alike, captured by the group’s astrophotographer.**
**Take a good look at this tree trunk—can’t you see two eyes, a round nose, and a crooked mouth?
Mother Nature has carved a face into its bark that makes it look like an old man… Does it see Bourgon’s ghost on full moon nights? Ah, if only it could speak…**

By chance, we all decided to create shadow puppets of stars on the chapel, to the delight of young and old alike. It was a wonderful discovery of new constellations, immortalized by the group’s astrophotographer!**
