Archer's Anthurus: A Major Discovery for Mycologists in the Mayenne Region

Archer’s anthurus egg Archer’s anthurium just before the branches bloom Archer’s Anthurus at the Château de Bourgon-Montourtier During the mycological field trip on October 18, 2015, organized by the CPIE of Mayenne, Alain Ducatillon brought to the attention of Mr. Jean Pierre Dubus, a renowned mycologist from Mayenne, the presence of an unusual mushroom: the Archer’s Anthurus.

This was the first time Mr. Dubus had observed it in Mayenne, so it is a major discovery that will be included in future editions on mushrooms in Mayenne and France. Note: The Gastéromycète egg displayed on the table at the end of the outing, with red inside, is an egg of Anthurus archeri (classified by some as belonging to the genus Clathrus).
